I have been collecting old jewelry boxes for a bit of a project. I have found some at yard sales and thrift stores.None of them cost more than a couple dollars. These are a few of the collection. The blue one was in bad shape on the outside but the inside was in tact, best of all it was lined in a hot pink velvet. The second one down had old stickers glued to it and some of the paint was chipped. The last one is actually from Target from a couple years ago.The project was to revamp them for use in some of my parties. This is what I came up with:
I new this one had to be based on the Glass Slipper Ball. So I added a figurine, some paint and some glitter and bippity boppity boo we have a smashing little jewelry box.
This next one is probably my favorite. Although I can't take credit for the Fairy (I also found her at a thrift store)I am really happy with how it turned out.
Finally my sleeping beauty inspired jewelry box. Sure it's dreamy but it just doesn't feel like a party without the other two fairy godmothers. Guess I will have to hit some yard sales next week!

Look to the stars
It's always fun for me to come up with new inspirations for a theme party. The party I am planning for my son will be totally cosmic.
Buzz Lightyear may be able to take you to infinity and beyond but we want to go retro!

Seuss inspired
So I was visiting my usual blogs today when I stumbled upon Stem Parties. Amy recently put together an amazing twins baby shower.
The theme was Dr.Seuss's Thing 1 & Thing 2 and it is absolutely adorable!Visit her blog and see what I mean.
As I admired her work I was reminded of what Little Shindigs did a few months ago and felt inspired to post a few more of our pictures.

A day on the farm
We went to the Underwood Family Farm in Moorpark last Sunday. I found their website online and thought it might be fun for the kids. By the way the website is fine and all but it does not do them Justice!!! That place is really great. There is so much for the kids to do; look at the different farm animals, feed them, pet them, go on Pony rides, ride on wagon tractors, ride on a mini train, even pick fresh fruit and vegetables from the fields. We did all of that except the picking part....not these city folks, rather take advantage of the great produce stand. YES THEY HAVE THAT TOO!!
So next time you are near Moorpark check them out. FYI They are suppose to have a great Harvest Fest.Oh' yeah and they do parties, you know me I had to ask. So if anyone in Moorpark feels like throwing a smashing little shindig on a farm, call me.
