What is black and white and RED all over?

The new Vintage Fire Truck Party Collection from the Tom Kat Studio, of course! I am such a fan of hers (#4, 124 on her face book fan page to be exact) just kidding. I think I fanned her around 2K! Do you think they make these invites for 30something year old? When I saw this it reminded me of an old friend of mine, Tausha. We were in our 20's then and skating had become her new thing. She tried for weeks getting me over to her rink. She was pretty good on her skates..I had easily not been in skates for a good 10years so I always took a rain check. Her birthday is coming up in May...wonder if she would be up to dusting off those skates?

Only one way to go with this party. Make it fun and colorful, just like these groovy invites.

Bowling Alley

Count my lucky strikes...look at what I just found! It's cool, it's hip and somewhat RETRO. An invite after my own heart.











This party can be done for a variety of ages. Best of all, it is a cool enough theme for the teen boys (toughest of critics really).

Decorating a Bowling alley would be easy.

Stick with Red, black & white to match the invites. Lot's of balloons!

Now the next thing I can think about is those cool Retro style bowling shirts. You will find a good selection for kids at Bowling Shirt.com

We WON"T talk about the shoes.

We will however, talk about the fact that if you are hosting your party at the local bowling lanes, you will probably not have to worry about the food.

You have catering on site.

I think they call it the Concession stand???

If you are allowed to bring party food to the bowling alley, you may want to consider these healthyer alternatives.

You might not be able to get yours from the PBA but that's okay because I found where you can buy them instead.

Now, if retro is not "your thing" and you want to do something out of the frame, you must go see this party .I promise you, it is Brilliant!

Ahoy Matey-part1 Yer invited

Happy Monday!
This week I thought we could dedicate to just one particular theme. It's been popular for quite some time but remains a favorite for many.The Pirate party. It's a popular theme that offers many, many possibilities.

For starters, as always the invites. If you are anything like me, you will probably want to make them yourself. The easiest option, I would propose is to make treasure maps. You can find "old paper" at most paper/craft stores. Get savey with photo shop and print a treasure map, a compass and the Seas. The invitation can be worded with something like this...

You can also distress the invites: rip and maybe even burn the edges (be careful). Roll them up and tie them with some twine or ribbon.

They are absolutely adorable! Make sure you get the complimenting Thank you notes while you are at it. Now we all know professionally printed invitations will involve a little extra time so get to planning and we will talk about the Captains Menu tomorrow. No envelopes here. Guests will actually have to unwrap the pop to get all the sweet details.
All 30 invites ( yes 30KIDS have been invited) were hand delivered by a guy dressed up as Mr.Mint! Actually that's a lie (Mr.Mint didn't make the budget) but yes there are 30 kids invited.

The party takes place soon and I can't wait to share more details. Before then I would like to share one more picture just because it's kind of a funny story.

This is what I worked on Saturday...

He is not done yet but he will ultimately be one of our centerpieces. If you do not recognize him then let me introduce ; Our reader meet Gloppy , Gloppy this is our reader. Gloppy is one of the character in the Candy Land game.

When I was done molding him I showed my husband...he said oh' is that Jaba? No! I said..it's
Gloppy, he's just not done yet.I still have to paint him.

A few hours later as I was checking up on Gloppy to see if he was drying okay, my husband entered the room at the same time and started singing the Ghost busters song. "If there's somethin' strange in your neighborhood...."
