I came across the sweetest little first birthday party a couple weeks ago. Vintage inspired! I know right? Talk about luv at first sight.

It is just about the most darling little party I have ever seen. No need to say more because the pictures speak for themselves. Honestly..

Maribeth (mom and AMAZING party planner) + oh so talented Photographer for a dad. Its too perfect! But I gotta tell you, the birthday girl TOTALLY steals the show! Yep, I was swept away (long sigh).

Enjoy....and see you tomorrow!

Letter to Cupcakes

Hi Cupcakes,
It's me Natalie. It's been a long time, but I still think about you. Do you remember when we first met? I was 4 and you were vanilla with sprinkles. I thought you were amazing, so sweet and absolutely incredible.
The years have passed and I am all grown up now. I now realize that you have never been good for me! Our paths are bound to cross again. You are popular and I throw a lot of parties. But know this-I will resist you. I own skinny jeans and will fight for them.

occupational hazards-reposted

My son got a hold of some props this weekend. A giant lollipop to be exact. He was trying to be sneaky getting into mommies stuff but could not control his excitement when he found the lollipop. He ran to where I was screaming in delight -mommy camdy, camdy!
Since he has recently taken up golf. No, really. He actually has a pretty good swing. I thought his reason for wanting to dismantle the 4ft lollipop was for the stick (he has recently been banned from real golf clubs until he learns it is not okay to hit people on the head with them) Anyways, he managed to take the stick out but instead of practicing his swing he proceeded to unwrap the CAMDY, CAMDY, CAMDY.(BTW-I can spell candy, that is just how the little dude said it)
I tried to explain to him that it was not real candy.
But he could only smile from ear to ear .So I let him take a bite.
Don't worry only the lollipop was harmed in this incident.

The Party Bucket List

My new bloggy friend and party extraordinaire, Kristy from The Purple Pug, recently posted about a new project in the works. Honestly, too cute for words.

She explains this is one theme in her Party Bucket List, read her post here and to answer your question Kristy...why yes I do have a party bucket list.

here are a few from my list:

Amelia Badelia! I loved those books as a child and now I get to read them to my kids. They think she is HILARIOUS and so silly. I think it would make fantastic theme. Lemon meringue pies a MUST!

The Country Mouse and the City Mouse. It would of course, involve tea. I would ask guests to dress up....are you a Country Mouse or a City Mouse?

Now, my list does not involve just books (although a lot do). I am fascinated with this idea..

Hi Ho Cherry-o anyone? I remember playing this as a kid and being amused with the color scheme. I know that might sound silly but I was driven by color very early on. I thought it was such a pretty game! The little cherries on the trees and the blue skies..oh the possibilities (long sigh). I haven't played this in a long time but I can tell you that every time I look at it, it just makes me *smile*.

But, enough of my list....lets keep it moving! Whats is in your Party Bucket List? Do tell and please use MckLinky below so we can all see what is on every ones list. Come on' it will be fun!

Funny Stuff

Found this site, just browsing. Pretty funny stuff and other stuff that was way too techy for me to understand. I'm sure if I did, would probobly be hilarious.
However, I did understand these two below and so I thought I would share.

cupcakes on the go

This one is for Jan, who recently asked about how you would transport the microphone cupcakes. There are some great products out there you can buy. I am more of a DIY girl so I would suggest taking a look at what Real Simple came up with.

Made from a SHIRT BOX! My bloggy friend Michelle from Everyday Entertaining has more on it here.

(re-posted)

Pink Berry.

No not that kind…this kind:

Yes I know it’s called a Black berry
But I got in Pink
So I call it a Pink Berry.

And it’s Mine.
Never leave home with out it
Scratch that
NEVER leave the room with out it.

When I wake up
Before I go to sleep
In line at the grocery store
OKAY…Sometimes in the middle of the night
OKAY, EVERY night in the middle of the night
Well it is left charging in the kitchen and I get thirsty.
So yes!
I check it in the middle of the night
But it is usually just my site meeter
But sometimes
Sometimes it’s a new follower
WOOHOO!
Yes! A new follower and they left a comment
YES!

So I check it all the time.
Did I get new mail?
Did I get a comment?
You got to LOVE the comments
A few dozen in and it is yet to get old.

Oh I think it’s blinking
Nope.

It’s my eyes doing tricks on me again.
Wait, I think its Blinking.
I could have sworn IT BLINKED!!

I really need to find my glasses.
Okay ,if I count to 5 and it doesn’t blink…
Yes I figured that out in the first day
Yes I count
I don’t want to miss it blink!

YES!
I knew it was blinking!
It’s not a comment
Shoot!
But I got an E-mail
Some dude from South Africa trying to give me some money
Again

Oh but that’s okay
When the light blinks.
It is good
When the light blinks its…

Wait.
Did you see it blink?

Blogging thing

re-posted (originally published September 08)
yep, I am going to milk this whole thing about importing my other blog :)

My husband is a good man. He loves his family, he is honest, hard working, and he has got a great sense of humor. He enjoys golf...quiet often. In fact he usually plays every Sunday and therefor has always been understanding of my preoccupation with crafting, decorating, party planning etc. However, my new found obsession with this blog is a different story. He doesn't get my "blogging thing". So in an effort for him to "get" my "blogging thing" I added him to the e-mail list. I thought this way he can enjoy all of my posts (daily). So when he made a joke about some crazy email he gets everyday...something about "Little Shindigs" and how he can't seem to be able to block them... (told you he was funny) I resorted to randomly asking him if whether or not he read the day's post...and of course what he thought of it. Oh yeah by the way, randomly means in the middle of the night when I can't sleep.I thought I saw a glimpse of hope yesterday when out of the blue he said "Hey you know what? I think I want to start a blog!" I almost fell out of my chair! I was so surprised and delighted...and so I said "really honey, that's great! What about?" He said "ABOUT A MAN MARRIED TO A WOMAN THAT BLOGS TOO MUCH" I said "that's fantastic, just make sure you link to me!"Doe's your significant other get your whole "blogging thing"? If not, maybe they would be interested in my hubbies blog.

Rubber Ducky Pond-reposted

I need to mport some stuff from my old blog.......
its a re-run but might be NEW TO YOU!
One of my Gal friends is in the process of putting together a Rubber Ducky inspired Baby Shower. We recently chatted about her upcoming event and I shared with her a couple of ideas on decor. Here are some images of something I did a few years ago. It was for a small baby shower my Kid Sister hosted for one of her friends....We had about a week to put it together!
A pathway lined with rubber duckies welcomed guests as they arrived.
We used glass bowls, river rocks, aquarium pebbles, spanish moss, little bamboo sticks and several rubber duckies to create a large centerpiece. The parents had already chosen the babies name "Payton" and so we made a little sign and christened our little ducky retreat
"Payton Pond"And here are a few more pics of the deocr...

There are so many great Baby Shower themes to choose from. The Rubber Ducky themes is one of the most darling and sweet.
Hope this helps Beth..I am sure your party will be great and I can't wait to see how your Ducky Soiree turns out.

Watching paint dry...

I spent today working on a vintage circus project. I had planned to paint a plastic elephant PINK but Ironman (AKA- my 3 year old son) was not happy with my choice in color. Actually, he through a fit! So in order to put an end to the tears and get back to work, I gave in. Honestly, I was on the fence about the color and I am happy I went with the "suggested" blue. Anyone else out there with a 3yr old creative director?

Anyway, the elephant remains unfinished because the paint took way too long to dry. So I literally sat there watching paint dry.
Fun.
Really.
Then I decided to start something else.

I got this little chair last weekend and figured now is a good time as any, right? Right.
So I made this.

an Alice inspired cupcake tower.

Here is a close up of a few little details but its not totally done yet. Just wanted to share a sneak preview. More to come, very soon:)

....and how was your weekend?

Kitschy Kitschy Coo

Darling little PINK circus elephant found via Kitschy Kitschy Coo (love that name). Unfortunately, it is no longer for sale, but definitely good for inspiration.

I am trying to put together a whimsy centerpiece that includes an elephant but haven't had much luck finding anything I can really use...ugh! I am about to break out the spray paint and try to work some magic on an old friend. Maybe manana!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend....any fun projects you are working on? Do share.

ooh SPARKLY!

I discovered a Fanciful Twist a few years ago and was smitten from the very start. Vanessa Valencia is an incredible artist and has one of the most fabulous Artful blogs out there. You can
literally spend hours there, trust me. Been there, done that and went back for more. She made this festive broach a few years back and I thought I would share it with you today. I do love me some sparkly.

Check out her site for the how to and Happy Patty Everyone!

Absorbent and yellow and wearing a tutu is he?!
If a fabulous birthday is something you wish, then flop on the deck and just look at this....

I totally dig this party, don't you? The colors, the tutus, the krabby patties!!! To see how they pulled it off, please visit Odd girl out. Personally, I love how they came up with the theme.
